How can I protect my family

As a parent I suppose this is a big question! We all want out children to be safe and secure. Tiny babies lend themselves to being protected and as every mother knows, this basic maternal instinct is built into us from birth!
As the infant grows, becomes more independent and is not constantly in the confines of the home, this poses more of a challenge.
As a Christian I believe that we are all created in the image of God. So in a sense he is the ultimate perfect parent figure! He made us with the ability to love and nurture our children just as he loves us. He knows how we long for our families to be secure and safe.
So how can we protect those we love?
Building in firm moral foundations, based on Gods values of right and wrong, truth and respect, can help ensure that your children do not fall prey to the dangers of our modern society. Teaching and equipping our children to make good choices and lead healthy well balanced lives, is something we can do.
There are, however, situations that we have no control over. It seems increasingly difficult to feel safe on the streets and even in our own homes.
So how can we protect ourselves and those we love?
It would be easy to say 'Oh just put your trust in a loving heavenly Father and He will look after you!' But bad things happen, even to those who choose to put their trust in God. People get hurt, maimed and killed and that is hard to accept. All I know is that without a faith, without a hope and without God's help these things are impossible to cope with.
God knows exactly what we are going through: He is with us 24/7!
